SUMMARY:Census 2020 Virtual Meeting with Sara Pol-Lim
DESCRIPTION:CENSUS 2020:  Time to get your questions answered!!\nThe 2020 Census determines how billions of federal dollars are distributed in California. An undercount could impact funding for our schools\, health services\, childcare\, emergency services and many other programs. \nThe Census also determines the number of California’s Congressional members and Electoral College votes. A complete count means more people in power who truly represent and advocate for our communities. \n  \nLink no longer available. \n(Meeting maximum: 300 people) \n  \nPeople want to know: \nWhat is California doing to work towards a complete and accurate count in the 2020 Census? \nWhat is the California Census Office doing to encourage participation? \nHow is private information protected? \nWho must respond to the Census? \nWhat questions do you have?  Join us on April 16 to get the answers! \n  \nAbout the presenter: \nSara Pol-Lim is a Regional Program Manager for the California Complete Count – Census 2020. She joined the state Census Office in October 2018. Sara brought knowledge of historically undercounted populations\, such as immigrant and refugee communities\, to the State’s Census outreach campaign. A refugee herself\, she understands the fear some California residents have of government. Sara was executive director of the United Cambodian Community (UCC) of Long Beach from 2007 to 2015. She broke the cultural barrier to be the first Cambodian Woman to lead the UCC back to sustainability. In 2018\, Sara completed a doctoral degree in educational leadership at California State University\, Long Beach. Through her community work\, Sara has received awards from numerous organizations\, including the NAACP-Long Beach\, the state Assembly and the Los Angeles County Supervisorial District. \n  \n[themify_button style=”xlarge green” link=”https://zoom.us/j/766434041?pwd=NEdQT3J2cUtTWFYvZmVCOEduenV0Zz09″ target=”<strong>_blank</strong>”]JOIN THE ZOOM MEETING[/themify_button] \n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n Courageous Citizenship\nJeremy Cohen\, PhD \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Dr. Mike Moodian & Dr. Fred Smoller\nDr. Mike Moodian has served as a faculty member at Chapman University since 2007 and teached for the leadership studies program.  \nDr. Fred Smoller is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Chapman University where he has been a member of the faculty since 1983. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Michael Sall\nMichael is the DPOC Director of Democratic Clubs and an attorney at Sall Spencer Callas & Krueger in Laguna Beach\, California\, with a practice in legal ethics and business litigation.
