SUMMARY:General Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Skipping Through Chaos: Journalism in the Trump Era\nScott Martelle\, a Los Angeles Times editorial writer\, will discuss being an “enemy of the people” and practicing journalism in an era in which truth can seem malleable\, and the public has retreated into political tribes. He plans to take a lot of questions\, so come prepared! \nAbout the Presenter: Scott Martelle\, a veteran journalist and author of six history books\, joined the Los Angeles Times editorial board in 2014 after more than 30 years as a news reporter\, including covering parts of three presidential campaigns. Martelle\, a native of Maine who grew up in Western New York\, lives in Irvine. \n  \n\nWith Mother’s Day on our minds\, we are joining forces with I Support the Girls for our May meeting.  I Support the Girls collects and distributes essential items\, including bras\, underwear\, and menstrual hygiene products\, allowing women experiencing homelessness\, impoverishment\, or distress to stand tall with dignity. \nThe items we will be collecting are: \n\nPads\nTampons\nReusable cups\nNew or gently used bras of all kinds (sports bras\, nursing bras\, etc)\nNew underwear

Instead\, we will take care of important business in a shortened meeting – hear committee reports\, vote on approval of the 2019 revision of our Constitution\, discuss plans for locating and supporting candidates for local offices (there are 30 seats up for grabs in our area!)\, and strategize to help Loretta Sanchez get elected to the Board of Supervisors in the special election on March 12th! \nWe will end promptly at 7:00pm\, so that we can attend the Katie Porter Town Hall directly following our meeting at the Norman Murray Community Center. We don’t want you to miss this special event! \nEverybody planning to attend our meeting please RSVP using the RSVP HERE button above. Separately\, everyone planning to also attend the Katie Porter Town Hall must RSVP to the Town Hall as well. SUMMARY:General Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for our April General Meeting\nOur guest speaker for our April Meeting is Nate Epstein\, Candidate for OC Assessor.\n  \n“I am running for Orange County Assessor because the residents of Orange County deserve a fair and transparent Assessor’s Office. The role of the Assessor is to determine the value of all taxable property in the county for tax purposes. \nDuring my time in law school and now as an estate planning and trust litigation attorney\, for nearly the past seven years\, almost every document I worked on was impacted in some way or another by the Assessor’s office. Given my hands on experience with the Assessor’s office through transferring over 500 properties\, such an important position within our county government should be fair\, transparent\, and easily accessible to the citizens it serves. As such\, I will bring a new generation of leadership and vision to the office. \nMy goal as your Assessor is to ensure the hard-working residents of Orange County are not being taken advantage of by the current system. It is for this reason\, I have decided to run to bring a fresh perspective to the office that our residents so desperately need. I will be a fierce voice for the taxpayers of Orange County and work vigorously towards saving tax payers money and will help refund over-assessments.” \n\n \nWith so many new members this year\, we are also continuing our new Welcome Corner!  Between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM\, new attendees will be greeted and encouraged to meet some of our already active members\, find out more about the club and share your concerns and ideas.  We need everyone if we’re going to flip South Orange County blue.  So please stop by and say hi! \n\n\n\nDON’T FORGET! Political Outreach is doing a special donation to help the homeless right here in Orange County.  Bring any extra unused travel or hotel toiletries to the November meeting to help contribute. This includes disposable razors and toothbrushes!\nCLICK HERE to find out more about how you can help combat homelessness in our community.

DESCRIPTION:Participate in the March for Science this year at the closest satellite march in Fullerton.  According to the event organizers: \n“This is a family-friendly event to support evidence-based science. This is a follow-up to our successful Fullerton March for Science last year\, which drew nearly 2\,000 participants. It also is a satellite event to the world-wide March for Science taking place on April 14\, 2018. \nThe event will include a rally\, a series of short speeches\, and a sidewalk march around the super-block where Fullerton City Hall and the Fullerton Library are located. Bring your voices\, signs\, posters\, and banners. \nConfirmed speakers include Kathleen Treseder\, UCI Regents Professor of Biology\, chemist and former Congressional candidate Phil Janowicz\, Fullerton Council-member Jesus Silva\, State Senator Josh Newman\, Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva\, former State Senator Joe Dunn\, among others. Willie Holmes will be our Master of Ceremonies\, and his sister will lead us in the national anthem. \nThe event is fully permitted and insured. \n(Note that the Faces of Fullerton event will be running from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Plaza on Wilshire on the same day as our event\, so we are keeping our activities at or near City Hall so as not to interfere. Also Rally participants are encouraged to check out Faces of Fullerton after our event ends.)”
