SUMMARY:Protect our Social Security National Day of Action Rally
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we rally to keep #SocialSecurityStrong for a National Day of Action sponsored by Social Security Workers United. \nWe’ll meet at the intersection of Alicia & Via Linda near the William Craycraft Park near the local Social Security Office. Bring your rally signs! \nThe longest federal government shutdown highlighted the long term problems that the Social Security Administration has been facing every day for years. Living paycheck to paycheck on low pay\, understaffing across the agency has led many workers to their breaking point. The federal government has lacked a commitment to fully fund the agency so it can serve the American public. \nJoin us to fight back and keep #SocialSecurityStrong. \n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n Tips on Effective Advocacy: A Legislative Advocate’s Perspective\nKevin Gordon\nMr. Gordon’s presentation will focus on legislative advocacy in the context of the state’s current fiscal and political backdrop. This year will be filled with all kinds of political dimensions that will impact the agenda for education and children. Kevin’s nearly 30-year career as a legislative advocate will bring to the audience his perceptions and predictions for the coming year.  \nIn a rush? Come at 5:45pm and eat chili & cornbread with us before the meeting! We will have meat & vegetarian options.  Cost is just $10 (collected at the meeting – cash/card).\n\n  \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Kevin Gordon\nWidely viewed among the top education advocates in California\, Kevin is the President and a founding Partner of Capitol Advisors Group.
