He previously worked at the OC Weekly\, where he was an investigative reporter for 15 years and editor for six of those years.  Gustavo was the author of the nationally syndicated column\, ¡Ask a Mexican!.  The issues of the popular column have been collected and published in a book\, ¡Ask a Mexican! (Scribner\, 2008).   \nGustavo has won numerous awards for ¡Ask a Mexican!\, including the 2006 and 2008 Best Non-Political Column in a Large Circulation Weekly from the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies\, the 2007 Presidents Award from the Los Angeles Press Club and the Impacto Award from the National Hispanic Media Coalition.  \nGustavo is also the author of “Taco USA: How Mexican Food Conquered America.” He writes a weekly newsletter\, Gustavo Arellano’s Weekly\, published by Gustavo Arellano\, a Mexican With Glasses. \nGustavo\, a native of Orange County\, attended Chapman University.  His wife\, Delilah Snell\, owns and operates a restaurant in Santa Ana.
