For the past 25 years\, he has been studying political violence\, hate\, and extremism. His fieldwork has taken him inside white supremacist groups across the United States where he has been embedded with racist skinheads\, Klan members\, neo-Nazis\, and anti-government militias. He is co-author of an award-winning book American Swastika: Inside the White Power Movement’s Hidden Spaces of Hate and has published more than 60 articles and book chapters on issues related to political extremism\, street gangs\, and juvenile delinquency. \nDr. Simi provides regular consultation on criminal cases involving hate crimes and domestic terrorism and volunteers as part of several efforts to help develop prevention and intervention strategies aimed at countering violent extremism. He is currently serving as one of the plaintiff’s experts in the landmark civil case\, Sines v.
