Learn about current challenges in immigrants’ rights advocacy and opportunities to effect change, with a focus on detention/deportation and its relationship to mass incarceration in the US.
About the presenter
Jennifer Lee Koh is a Visiting Professor of Law at UC Irvine School of Law. For the past nine years, she was a Professor of Law and the founding director of the Immigration Clinic at Western State College of Law. Her legal scholarship has appeared in journals such as the Stanford Law Review Online, Washington University Law Review, and Southern California Law; and has been cited by the United States Supreme Court (in a majority opinion by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg) and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Professor Koh serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Orange County Justice Fund, a new nonprofit aimed at serving the needs of detained immigrants in Orange County. In 2019, she was elected as an Assembly Delegate to the California Democratic Party. Professor Koh received her J.D. from Columbia Law School and her B.A. from Yale University.
